About
A hand-picked collection of music albums.
Album Age is a hand-picked collection of music albums — records chosen one at a time, listened to closely, and kept because they were worth keeping. It began back in 2017 as a community on VK.com, and for several years it was a living, breathing thing: new finds posted regularly, favourites revisited, a quiet little corner of the internet built around the simple pleasure of a good album.
Over time, though, the spark dimmed. As VK's management kept reshaping the platform with questionable design and UX decisions, and as more and more people drifted away from it, keeping the project alive there started to feel like a burden. The community was never abandoned out of a loss of love for the music — it simply went quiet. This site is an attempt to bring it back, on ground we actually own, where the collection can live on its own terms.
A fair word of warning: this is not the full archive yet. What you see here is only a handful of works — the first arrivals. The rest of the collection is being carried over piece by piece, and the catalogue will keep growing over time, so it's worth checking back.
As for the name — “Album Age” comes from the idea that we live in an era defined by the album as a form. For a long stretch of music history the album has been the way records are made and heard, distinct from the times before it, and that format has shaped — sometimes even dictated — how the music itself is written and arranged. If you're curious about the idea, there's more on Wikipedia's article on the album era.
So please, take your time and wander through the collection. Put something on, let it play all the way through, and see what stays with you — there's a good chance you'll find an album or two to call your own.
